Quick Trip to Coeur d’Alene
We spent 4 nights on the lake at the Coeur d’Alene Golf & Spa Resort in Idaho for the marriage of our niece, Katherine, to the love of her life, Alex. Our niece’s wedding was held at the Hagadone Event Center and Garden, a beautiful location with a spectacular view of the lake and The Floating Green on the left. There John officiated the wedding and a lovely party ensued along with several parties on days before and afterward. We had opportunity to reconnect with friends and visit with our family. The view of the lake from our room at the resort was spectacular. On our daily lakeside walks, we enjoyed the refreshing atmosphere, beautiful views of the shoreline and beautiful homes with mature landscaping. It was our first trip to Idaho, and we hope to return. We did not know previously, but this part of Idaho is a vacation destination get-a-way sought after by the rich and famous. At the resort, there were cruises, spa packages, golf and other activities to choose from, but we couldn’t miss the opportunity to do a tour on a floatplane operated by a seaplane service nearby. Our pilot Shane gave interesting historical info about the area and pointed out the golf courses and resorts and town of Harrison along the route. We highly recommend it. While we were in Idaho, Goldie was trying out a new place, Triangle Pet Resort. They post pictures of their guests on Facebook each day having fun playing with new friends. A good time was had by all.
Our Trip to Scotland
There’s no place like home, but we had a wonderful trip to Scotland with our travel buddies Julia and Gary. Our Scottish guide Paul gave us the history of the clans and folk lore of the different areas and really enhanced our tour. We started out in Edinburgh to St Andrews Old Course, stopping at picturesque villages along the way, then on to Pitlochry and Inverness. We traveled up to Ullapool and Lochinver, to Isle of Skye to the Old Man of Storr. We were blessed with great weather most all of the time. We saw numerous castles and ruins, including Eilean Donan Castle. We loved touring the Highlands. There was such dramatic landscape nearly everywhere you looked. The food was outstanding, salmon and mussels were a staple for me, and we ate haggis too. The locals said yes it was good eating, so we had to try it. We stayed in Oban and toured Ise of Mull and ferried over to Iona and Ulva. Inverary was a charming town with a beautiful castle. We saw many lochs including Loch Ness and Loch Lomond. We toured Rosslyn Chapel. Gary spotted two prehistoric Standing stones for us all to see just there in the middle of fields. I would have missed it. Another thing I noticed was there were a lot of redheads there.
In Case You Missed It: John got a Porsche 911 in February this year!
